Optimising EV charging in collective housing
Ile-de-France Region
2015-2019
10 buildings with approx. 10 EVs each
Objectives:
• Propose connection options for clusters of charging points for some 10 EVs in collective housing.
• Set up a competitive global economic scheme through a commercial operator ensuring “all-inclusive” service, whether in social or private housing.
• Identify metering issues arising from connection downstream from the meter in collective areas of the building.
• Integrate a car-sharing service and test its profitability in collective housing.
• Build up an algorithm for EV charging optimisation in collective housing.
ACHIEVEMENTS AND LESSONS LEARNED
Grid-wide roll out ongoing
• Charging point connection solutions in collective housing: three connection options have been tested, with dedicated delivery points according to building location and local grid situation (“foot” of the electric conduct, direct grid plugging or sub-metering from the collective meter), and pricing defined accordingly.
• White paper on “recommendations for installing an EV charging infrastructure in existing collective housing”.
Further development needed before roll out
• Testing of charging command-and-control : a smart command and control of EV charging would help optimise costs and grid impact.
• Sub-metering: test of an IT blueprint for automated
sub-metering.
